8am Expands Legal AI Push With Claude Connector and Embedded Firm Financing

8am on Sept. 23 unveiled a broad product release centered on legal AI, workflow automation and embedded financing for professional firms. The Austin-based company’s Fall 2026 rollout adds a Claude connector for MyCase, new AI assistants and expanded financial tools, including capital supplied by Fundbox through LawPay. The announcement does not disclose a funding amount for 8am itself.

The release reflects a wider shift in legal technology from standalone applications toward connected operating platforms. 8am combines payment services, practice management and accounting-oriented products, including LawPay, CPACharge, MyCase, CasePeer and DocketWise. Its latest move places generative AI inside those existing workflows rather than presenting it as a separate legal research or contract management product. That strategy targets smaller firms, where attorneys often manage billing, intake, documents and cash flow alongside client work.

The most notable addition is 8am MyCase MCP, a connector that allows users to query MyCase through Claude. It supports 73 actions across matters, clients, documents, billing and intake, subject to existing MyCase permissions. Users can retrieve case information, locate documents, examine unpaid invoices and review caseload data through conversational requests. 8am is also adding IQ Firm Agent, which combines information from cases, invoices and documents, and IQ Draft, which generates initial documents and builds templates from a firm’s existing materials or instructions.

The financial products address a different constraint: converting completed work and operating spend into usable cash. Smart Spend Intelligence recommends likely matters when transactions are categorized and tracks case-related spending over time, helping firms identify expenses that may be recoverable from clients. 8am Capital offers financing within LawPay, with eligibility tied to payment history. Fundbox provides the capital, potentially within one to two business days, while repayment adjusts with revenue instead of using a fixed monthly schedule. The terms are designed for firms handling IOLTA accounts, and the company says funding can support hiring, marketing, office expansion and working capital. No pricing, advance rates or aggregate origination data were provided.
