Aderant completes SOC 2 Type 2 examination for Onyx, validating security and reliability controls for law firms.

Aderant, a global legal business management software provider headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, announced on March 30, 2026, the successful completion of its SOC 2 Type 2 examination for its Onyx cloud platform. Independent CPA firm Schellman and Company, LLC, conducted the examination. The audit confirms that Aderant's security, availability, and confidentiality controls meet established standards for protecting law firm data.

Law firms handle sensitive client information daily and require technology partners with independently verified security controls. This examination gives Aderant's clients documented assurance that its cloud platform operates with tested and effective safeguards.

What Was Examined

The SOC 2 Type 2 examination covered controls under the Trust Services Criteria for three categories: Security, Availability, and Confidentiality. The review period ran from November 1, 2025, through January 31, 2026, spanning three months of operational activity.

A SOC 2 Type 2 examination goes beyond design review. It also tests whether those controls worked effectively throughout the defined period. This distinguishes it from a Type 1 examination, which only evaluates whether controls are properly designed at a single point in time.

About the Examination

Schellman and Company, LLC, an independent CPA firm, conducted the examination. The firm assessed Aderant's control environment against the Trust Services Criteria, a framework used widely across cloud service providers to evaluate data protection practices.

SOC 2 examinations are designed to give client organizations an independent assessment of a service provider's controls. The report is available to interested organizations through Aderant's Trust Center at trust.aderant.com.
