Am Law 100 Firm Polsinelli Rolls Out CoCounsel AI

Polsinelli announced this week the firmwide deployment of Thomson Reuters CoCounsel, marking one of the largest legal AI rollouts to date. The Kansas City-based firm activated CoCounsel Core across its transactional, regulatory, and litigation practices for all 1,200 attorneys. The firm is also finalizing implementation of CoCounsel Drafting, which integrates with Microsoft Word and leverages Practical Law content.

Strong Early Adoption Rates

The firm reports significant early usage across attorney levels. Seventy percent of associates and 50% of shareholders actively use the platform. CoCounsel Core accelerates document discovery, review, and analysis, while the Drafting component operates within Microsoft Word. 

"We conducted in-depth pilots for several GenAI tools as part of our ongoing firmwide innovation efforts to ensure we deliver an enterprise-level programmatic approach to AI that will benefit our clients regardless of the practice they engage with," said Regan Lemke, chief practice strategy officer and chief of staff at Polsinelli.

Integration with Existing Legal Resources

CoCounsel's integration with Thomson Reuters' Westlaw and Practical Law platforms provides attorneys with comprehensive legal research capabilities. The tool summarizes documents, responds to legal prompts, and provides source citations to relevant documents and provisions.
