Scott Kveton, founder of litigation lifecycle business CaseMark, launched Case.Dev on January 7, 2026, as a vibe-coding platform designed for legal technology development. The platform consolidates 13 specialized services including OCR, transcription, 130+ AI models, secure file storage, and semantic search into a single API. The Oregon-based company currently employs seven people and targets legal tech startups, law firm IT teams, legal operations professionals, and AI legal engineers.

Legal software development traditionally requires integrating five to eight different vendors for basic functionality. Case.Dev eliminates this complexity by providing a single platform with legal-grade compliance and security built in. The platform allows users to either deploy pre-built legal applications or customize them according to specific workflow requirements.

Case.Dev provides 13 core services through one unified API. These include optical character recognition, transcription services, access to over 130 AI models, secure file storage, semantic search capabilities, and workflow automation tools.

Market Strategy

Case.Dev targets both large law firms and solo practitioners. Innovation teams at large firms building custom solutions require flexible infrastructure, while the platform democratizes access for smaller practices that previously lacked million-dollar budgets for custom tools.

"AI is the forcing function that's going to change not just how law is practiced, but the entire business of law and legal tech," Kveton explained. He positions Case.Dev to fill gaps left by comprehensive legal platforms that attempt to handle all functions internally.

The company developed several applications on the platform during December 2025. Case.Dev plans to release multiple open source tools in January 2026. Users can access existing applications as-is or modify them for specific use cases.

Growth Plans

Case.Dev aims to prove its hypothesis for 2026: a new category of builders needs specialized tools for legal application development. The company plans revenue-driven growth from paying customers using solutions at scale rather than pursuing venture capital based on AI market enthusiasm.

Kveton entered legal technology after selling his previous company two years ago. His wife's legal practice provided direct insight into software failures in legal workflows. This experience informed Case.Dev's approach of empowering lawyers rather than dictating work methods.
