Datasite and Legora have partnered to let deal teams run AI-powered document analysis inside Legora directly from Datasite data rooms, eliminating manual file transfers.
This integration matters because M&A due diligence has long required lawyers and bankers to download documents from secure data rooms and re-upload them to separate AI tools, creating both delays and security risks. By connecting two widely used platforms, the partnership addresses a specific operational gap in deal workflows.
The Core Problem
Deal teams working on mergers and acquisitions routinely handle thousands of documents under tight deadlines. Until now, using AI to analyze those documents meant exporting files from a virtual data room (VDR) and importing them into a third-party tool. That process introduced security exposure each time a file left the controlled environment.
Datasite is a platform used to host and manage VDRs, which are secure digital repositories where transaction documents are stored and shared during deals. Legora is an AI platform built for legal professionals that helps with due diligence, legal analysis, and document drafting.
How the Integration Works
Through the new integration, Legora customers who have access to a Datasite data room can navigate Datasite folders directly within Legora. They can select individual files, folders, or document categories and pull them into Legora for analysis without downloading or re-uploading anything.
Legora's AI can then surface key contract terms such as change-of-control clauses, assignment provisions, and indemnity limits in minutes. It can also identify missing or inconsistent documents across a data room.
Critically, Datasite's existing permission settings carry over automatically into Legora. A user can only access documents in Legora that they are already authorized to view in Datasite. There is no separate permission system to set up and no manual approval step required before review begins.
"AI belongs where deal work lives," said Rusty Wiley, President and CEO of Datasite. "With this integration, deal teams can pull Datasite documents straight into Legora and get to work. No manual exports, no security workarounds, no disruption in workflow."
Max Junestrand, CEO and Co-Founder of Legora, added: "M&A lawyers and bankers globally have been waiting for AI that meets them where the work actually happens, on the documents that matter, under the permissions they have already set. We are not asking deal teams to re-architect their workflows."
Deal Lifecycle Impact
The partnership is designed to accelerate multiple stages of a transaction. During early-stage diligence, Legora's AI can scan the full data room to triage documents and flag issues faster than manual review. The platform also supports drafting using templates and can track post-close covenant obligations after a deal closes.
Datasite retains its role as the authoritative control layer for documents and permissions throughout. Legora operates on top of that layer to perform analysis and drafting. The two systems do not duplicate functions.
Review cycles that have traditionally taken weeks during a deal can be compressed using this combined workflow, according to the companies. The integration covers the full transaction lifecycle, from initial diligence through signing checklists and post-close tracking.
The partnership was announced on May 18, 2026. No pricing or implementation timeline details were disclosed in the announcement.
