DeepIP Acquires PatentMaker to Lead EU Patent AI

DeepIP acquired PatentMaker on June 8, 2026, to build the leading AI platform for patent drafting and prosecution in Europe.

The acquisition brings together two platforms that together serve over 400 organizations across 25 jurisdictions. For European patent professionals, this means a single AI platform covering the full patent lifecycle, from invention capture to post-grant work, with jurisdiction-specific features built into the workflow.

The Merger Details

DeepIP, founded in 2024 and headquartered in New York and Paris, has raised over $40 million in under nine months. The company already works with more than half of the top 50 North American IP law firms. More than 25,000 patent applications have been drafted on its platform.

PatentMaker was built by Dr. Matthias Hofmann, a German and European Patent Attorney and equity partner at Boehmert and Boehmert. It is currently used by nearly 50% of the top German IP law firms and by corporate IP teams including Infineon Technologies and Siemens AG.

With the acquisition, DeepIP opens a German office within Boehmert and Boehmert's premises in Munich. Celia Wei, PatentMaker's Managing Director, leads the German operations at DeepIP. Dr. Hofmann joins DeepIP as Co-Founder in charge of Germany.

What the Platform Covers

The combined platform supports the full patent lifecycle within a single environment. It covers invention capture, prior art search, drafting, filing, prosecution, and post-grant work.

The platform is designed to support both law firms and in-house IP teams. It enables collaboration across teams, firms, and jurisdictions from one integrated system.

Why Germany Matters

Germany is a central hub for patent activity in Europe, and the European Patent Office (EPO) is based in Munich. A large share of European patent filings run through German IP firms, making local expertise essential for any platform serving the region.

PatentMaker's adoption across nearly half of the top-tier German IP firms gave DeepIP an established foothold in this market. The Munich office positions DeepIP directly within the EPO ecosystem.
