Definely Expands US Advisory Network

Definely has launched an advisory network featuring executives from BigHand, Clio, Ontra, Relativity, and Verizon to accelerate its North American expansion.

The AI-powered legal tech company announced the network on October 14, 2025, bringing together five senior executives with experience scaling legal technology businesses. The advisors will guide Definely's go-to-market strategy for large law firms, mid-market practices, and corporate legal departments across North America.

This strategic move follows Definely's $30 million Series B funding round in June 2025 and supports the company's push into the world's largest legal services market. The advisor network complements recent leadership appointments, including Jeroen Plink as board member and Robel Chiappini as US General Manager.

The Advisors

Eric Wangler, president of global legal market at BigHand, led 10x company growth through market expansion in North America. Steve Couling, chief sales officer at Relativity, brings nearly 30 years of technology sales experience and drove 10x+ growth at the eDiscovery platform.

Sharon Kopp, assistant general counsel with C-suite experience at Verizon and Viacom, previously practiced at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP. Jeffrey Herscott, VP global head of new sales at Ontra, helped drive 20x+ growth since the company's Series A and formerly practiced corporate law at Simpson Thatcher & Bartlett LLP.

Min FitzGerald, head of global monetization and pricing at Clio, built the company's first monetization function and achieved double-digit compounded annual revenue growth since team inception.

Recent Momentum

Definely raised $30 million in Series B funding in June 2025, with Clio Ventures participating as an investor. The company previously secured strategic investment from Raine Ventures in July 2024 specifically for US expansion.

The Series B followed a $7 million Series A round completed in May 2024. Current clients include transatlantic law firms A&O Shearman and Millbank, along with Deloitte.

Leadership Perspective

"It takes a village to build something of merit," said Robel Chiappini, US general manager at Definely. "The lived experiences of those that scaled before us have already helped to accelerate our growth in North America."

Nnamdi Emelifeonwu, co-founder and CEO, emphasized the importance of the US market. "As the largest legal services market globally, the US is a pivotal opportunity for Definely's expansion, and securing a foothold in the region is essential for our continued growth," he said.
