Elevate Launches ELMA, an AI Agent for Legal Teams

Elevate, a legal services company, launched ELMA, its agentic AI platform for legal work, on February 24, 2026, in Los Angeles, to help legal teams automate routine and complex workflows without adding headcount.

Legal teams face growing business demand but limited budgets for new hires. ELMA addresses this directly by letting users build and deploy AI-driven automations using natural language, connecting to over 200 enterprise tools, and running on any leading AI model.

What ELMA Does

ELMA, short for ELM Agent, extends Elevate's proprietary cloud-based Enterprise Legal Management (ELM) platform. The platform already powers Elevate's legal services and centres of excellence.

Users can create automated workflows by typing instructions in plain language. They do not need technical skills or developer support to get started.

ELMA connects to more than 200 enterprise tools, including Microsoft Word, DocuSign, SAP, and Oracle. It also automates browser-based applications that do not offer native software integrations.

Key Features

The platform includes an Automations Library, a built-in catalogue of pre-built workflows designed by Elevate's legal experts. Users can deploy these workflows immediately or customize them for their specific teams.

ELMA supports advanced document processing for legal analysis and data extraction. It also includes self-healing workflows, meaning the system automatically adjusts when software interfaces or systems change, reducing workflow failures.

ELMA is LLM-agnostic, meaning it works with any leading AI foundation model, including Claude and OpenAI, rather than being locked into one provider. It also includes native integrations with most legacy legal software and Model Context Protocols (MCPs) for key legal tasks such as content repository management.

ELMA is built for in-house legal teams and outside counsel. Users can build agents themselves or work with Elevate's AI and Solutions Experts to design automations for more complex tasks.

Sharath Beedu, Vice President of Products at Elevate, explained the product's purpose directly: "With Elevate's unique combination of legal expertise, software platform, and ELMA's agentic capabilities, legal teams can meet growing business demand without more people."

Since early 2025, Elevate's Solutions Experts have worked with select customers to embed ELMA's automation capabilities into managed services and legal operations workflows. The February 2026 release makes ELMA available to the broader market.

Market Debut

Elevate previewed ELMA at CLOC Global Institute 2025, an industry event focused on legal operations. The company will offer live demonstrations at Legalweek 2026.

Legalweek is one of the legal industry's largest annual conferences, making it a high-visibility venue for the product's public launch.

The release positions Elevate among a growing group of legal technology providers offering agentic AI, where software takes autonomous, multi-step actions rather than responding to single commands.
