Foot Anstey Taps iManage and Tiger Eye for 45 Million-Document Cloud Move

Foot Anstey has selected iManage Cloud and partner Tiger Eye to move 45 million documents, emails and other knowledge assets from its on-premises system by the third quarter of 2026. Tiger Eye will manage the migration, provide continuing platform support and configure additional iManage capabilities. The project extends a technology relationship that began when Foot Anstey adopted iManage more than a decade ago.

The decision reflects a wider shift in legal technology procurement from firm-managed infrastructure toward subscription software. Foot Anstey said the move forms part of a firmwide digital transformation program focused on security, flexibility and cost control. For a UK Top 100 firm with more than 700 employees across 11 offices, cloud document management also creates a common foundation for distributed work. The project shows that established law firms increasingly view the document management system as more than a repository: it is becoming an access point for collaboration, governance and legal AI.

Foot Anstey reviewed other document management systems before retaining iManage and changing its deployment model. In the cloud, the firm plans to use co-authoring, Microsoft Teams integration and Ask iManage, the platform’s natural-language assistant. It will also deploy Tiger Eye Administrate, a modular product for managing iManage data. Foot Anstey chose Tiger Eye based on its exclusive focus on iManage and its experience handling migrations for AMPA, Gateley and Mills & Reeve. The partner’s role will continue after the transfer through user training, operational support and workflow optimization. That continuing mandate matters because cloud adoption shifts some technical responsibility to vendors but does not eliminate the work required around configuration, governance and employee uptake.

The deal illustrates how competition in document management now extends beyond storage and search. Collaboration features, Teams connectivity and embedded natural-language interfaces are becoming part of the buying case, placing legal AI closer to lawyers’ daily work rather than in a separate legal research product.
