Gerri 2.0 Speeds Up Contract Negotiations

Common Paper has launched Gerri 2.0, an AI contract negotiation agent that reviews 90% of contracts in under three minutes, with attorney review now available through law firm General Legal.

The launch marks a significant shift in how businesses can handle contract workflows, combining automated AI review with on-demand human legal oversight at a fixed fee.

What Gerri Does

When a contract arrives, Gerri reads every redline against the company's negotiation playbook. It then autonomously accepts, counters, or escalates each issue, routing it to the right team member, whether that is the General Counsel, VP of Sales, or someone in Finance.

Team members can approve, push back, or suggest a counteroffer without opening a Word document. Gerri applies every decision directly to the .docx file and logs a full audit trail, citing the specific playbook rule behind each AI decision and recording every human override.

Key New Features

Gerri 2.0 ships with a 10X faster processing engine compared to its previous version. It also includes personality settings that guide the AI's behavior during negotiations.

A third addition allows the system to analyze a company's past negotiation history and suggest changes to contract templates. This means playbooks can be updated over time based on real outcomes rather than remaining static.

Attorney Review Add-On

For contracts that require human legal input, Common Paper has partnered with General Legal, an AI-first law firm. The partnership offers an optional attorney review add-on with flat-fee pricing and a four-hour turnaround guarantee.

Customers who do not have existing legal counsel can route escalated issues directly to General Legal with a single click. Customers with in-house counsel or outside counsel can continue routing to their existing legal team.

Jake Stein, CEO and Co-founder of Common Paper, explained the thinking behind the partnership: "Contracts are a team sport. With Gerri, customers can decide which types of issues get handled by which members of the team, including the AI agent, attorney, and other functions like finance, security, and operations."

Customer Results

SurePath, an early customer of Gerri, reported measurable business impact. Casey Bleeker, CEO of SurePath, stated: "Gerri paid for itself eight times over on my first contract and shortened our sales cycle by a full month."

Bleeker added that SurePath reached agreed redlines with a customer in a single day, allowing the deal to make an investment committee deadline the following morning.

Stein also addressed why the product targets the broader organization rather than just legal teams: "Most companies treat contract negotiation as a legal problem, but the people who feel the pain are spread across the entire company. Gerri 2.0 gives every team member the ability to weigh in on the areas they own, at the speed the business actually needs."
