Harvey Brings Legal AI Into Microsoft 365 Copilot

Harvey and Microsoft expand their partnership to embed legal AI directly inside Microsoft 365 Copilot, launching in Q2 2026.

Legal professionals who spend their workday within Microsoft 365 will soon have access to Harvey's AI capabilities without needing to switch platforms. The integration, set to launch in Q2 2026, lets lawyers call on Harvey through Copilot to analyze contracts, research market terms, and retrieve legal precedent, all within the tools they already use.

This move addresses a real friction point in legal work: context switching. Lawyers frequently move between productivity suites and specialized legal platforms to complete a single task. By embedding Harvey inside Copilot, the partnership reduces that burden and keeps legal work flowing within one environment.

The Integration

Users can access Harvey inside Microsoft 365 Copilot by typing @Harvey in the Copilot interface or selecting the Harvey agent from the Copilot agents menu. From there, they can query the Harvey Assistant to analyze agreements, identify negotiation positions, and pull precedent from Harvey-powered systems.

Responses appear inline within Copilot and are grounded in the document, email, or item currently open. This means a lawyer reviewing a contract in Word or an email thread in Outlook can ask Harvey a legal question and receive a contextually relevant answer without opening a separate application.

Document Workflows

As legal matters progress, the integration extends beyond question-and-answer interactions. Lawyers can draft and refine documents in Word, generate executive summaries for business stakeholders, analyze counterparty responses, and produce closing memoranda that capture negotiated changes and preserve precedent value.

For more complex analysis or structured legal workflows, the "View in Harvey" function transfers the conversation thread into the full Harvey platform, carrying over relevant documents and context. This creates a clear path from a quick Copilot query to a deeper working session in Harvey when the task requires it.

Microsoft's Role

Judson Althoff, CEO of Microsoft's commercial business, described the integration as part of a broader goal: "Our goal with Microsoft 365 Copilot is to bring intelligence directly into the flow of work, empowering human ambition and helping people achieve more. By integrating Harvey's AI tools within Copilot, we are extending that experience for legal teams to deliver specialized AI capabilities inside the applications they rely on every day."

Beyond the Copilot integration itself, Harvey will also adopt Microsoft 365 and Copilot across its own internal operations and go-to-market activities. The company sees this alignment with Microsoft's enterprise tooling as a way to better connect with enterprise buyers who already work within the Microsoft ecosystem.

Launch Timeline
