Harvey has launched an Intake artifact inside Anthropic's Claude that lets business teams ask legal questions and submit requests where they already work, while lawyers handle the work in Harvey. Harvey built the tool as a launch partner for Claude for Legal's new artifacts gallery, and it connects to Harvey through the company's MCP server.

Legal loses sight of questions asked in Claude

Employees already put legal questions to general AI assistants. When those questions get a generic answer instead of reaching the legal department, Legal loses visibility and control over the advice the business relies on. Harvey's answer is to put a front door to the legal team inside Claude itself, rather than asking business users to adopt another portal.

The launch extends Harvey's recent push into in-house workflows, alongside its Intake product, a new connector library and legal work orchestration features that assign and track work across agents and lawyers.

Legal teams can also link Harvey into other Claude artifacts, so context already stored in Harvey flows into those tools without manual uploads.

Routine answers automated, judgment calls routed

Through the artifact, routine questions are answered using Legal's own guidance, playbooks and prior work stored in Harvey. Requests that need legal judgment go to a lawyer in Harvey, and the response returns to the requester in Claude. Every request is logged in Harvey Intake, where Legal sets assignment rules, tracks progress and triages incoming work. Requesters can check status and follow up without leaving Claude.

Harvey's example is a sales contract: an account executive submits a prospect's marked-up agreement through the artifact, the assigned lawyer reviews the changes in Harvey and sends the revised contract back to the account executive in Claude. Matt Zerweck, Harvey's head of in-house product, described the goal as meeting business teams where they work while Legal sets the rules and steps in to manage risk.

Intake becomes the new battleground for in-house tools

Legal intake has long been dominated by ticketing tools and CLM request forms that business users avoid. Placing intake inside an AI assistant the business already uses lowers that friction. It also raises the stakes for CLM and legal ops vendors whose intake modules now compete with a conversational entry point. For in-house teams, the appeal is a single log of every request, wherever it starts.

It also changes what Legal can measure. A single queue fed from inside Claude shows which questions the business asks most, how many are answered from approved guidance and how long lawyer reviews take.

DreamLegal Perspective

Intake vendors should assume the first legal question will increasingly be typed into a general AI assistant and design for that entry point. Legal operations teams evaluating this approach should check how answers from Legal's guidance are approved and refreshed, what gets logged for audit, and whether routing rules match current triage. Measuring how many requests resolve without a lawyer will show whether the model actually frees legal capacity.
