Harvey Targets In-House Legal Teams With AI-Powered Contract Intake Tool

Harvey launched Intake this month, a purpose-built triage and first-pass contract review product aimed squarely at corporate legal departments. The product extends Harvey's existing Contract Intelligence platform, automatically routing incoming requests to the appropriate lawyer or AI agent while applying a team's pre-established playbook to produce an initial review before a lawyer ever opens the file. Early access is live now.

The move marks a deliberate pivot in emphasis for Harvey, which has historically built its reputation inside law firms. The company now counts 1,600 in-house legal teams among its clients — including five of the Fortune 10 — and Intake signals that the corporate counsel market is no longer a secondary priority. Contract lifecycle management vendors such as Ironclad and Icertis have occupied this workflow layer for years, but newer AI-native entrants are reframing what that layer can do, pushing from passive document storage toward active, agent-driven review. Harvey is betting that automated first-pass analysis, anchored to a team's own negotiating playbook, is the feature that dislodges incumbent CLM tools from their position as the default front door to corporate legal.
