HaystackID Launches COMET at LegalTechTalk London

HaystackID has unveiled COMET, a mobile communications compliance tool, ahead of London's LegalTechTalk opening on June 17, 2026.

HaystackID, a legal data and compliance services firm, has introduced its Compliance Oversight for Mobile Electronic Transmissions solution, known as COMET, ahead of the LegalTechTalk conference in London, running June 17-18, 2026. The solution targets regulated financial organisations in Europe that must collect and preserve business communications from mobile devices. The launch comes as regulators across the UK, Germany, France, and the EU step up enforcement of off-channel communications rules.

This launch matters because European financial firms now face the same strict off-channel enforcement environment that US firms have navigated since 2021. Non-compliance carries serious legal and regulatory risk, and existing tools have not kept pace with the scale of the problem.

Growing Enforcement

Financial regulators across Europe are moving fast. The Financial Conduct Authority in the UK, BaFin in Germany, the Autorité des Marchés Financiers in France, and the European Securities and Markets Authority have all started enforcing policies similar to those applied by US regulators since 2021.

Off-channel communications refer to business conversations that take place on personal mobile devices or messaging apps outside official, monitored channels. These records are difficult to capture but are required under financial services law.

What COMET Does

HaystackID COMET is built for compliance and surveillance officers. It performs targeted, scheduled, and recurring collection of business communications from mobile devices.

The solution is a companion product to HaystackID MEDAL, another tool in the company's compliance portfolio. COMET focuses specifically on the mobile communications capture problem in European regulated markets.

The global security, governance, risk, and compliance services market is projected to reach USD 22.8 billion by 2029, according to IDC. This figure reflects the increasing complexity of regulatory requirements and the growing overlap between compliance, risk, and cybersecurity functions.

What to Expect at the Conference

HaystackID will showcase its broader portfolio at booth S12 during the conference. Planned demonstrations will cover three AI-powered tools addressing different compliance needs.

Case Insight will show how generative AI can classify documents by issue, generate summaries, build timelines, and surface key people and events from large datasets. CaseBot will extend this through a conversational interface where users can ask questions and receive answers drawn directly from the document set.

The HaystackID Privacy Hub will demonstrate how organisations can scan datasets to identify personally identifiable information exposure, map geographic risk by state and country, flag poor-quality scanned documents, and receive a full privacy risk summary within minutes.

A Data Subject Access Request response workflow will also be demonstrated live, walking through an employment tribunal matter from forensic collection through AI-assisted review and automatic redaction to final delivery.

Sessions and Events

John Wilson is scheduled to speak at LegalTechTalk on June 17 at 11:55am BST at the Frost Stage. He will join panelists from Omnicom and Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas to discuss cross-functional cyber governance and how firms can avoid costly mistakes in their cybersecurity approach.
