The Department of Posts issued notification No. Mail-39/5/2025-D-DOP on July 2, 2025. The Secretary and Director General approved merging Registered Letter and Speed Post Document into a single Speed Post Document service.

The notification states: "The merger is scheduled to be implemented with effect from 01.09.2025." Organizations using Registered Post must transition to the unified framework by September 1.
