INQ and Filevine Tie Digital Handwriting to AI Legal Workflows in Exclusive Deal

Swedish technology company INQ has entered an exclusive legal technology partnership with Filevine to bring digitally captured handwriting into Filevine’s AI workflows. The agreement makes INQ Filevine’s exclusive digital-writing supplier in legal technology, subject to continuing volume commitments. Filevine plans to distribute customized pens and notebooks as part of its product offering.

The deal places physical note-taking inside a broader shift toward software that can interpret and act on legal information rather than merely store it. Filevine is positioning its Legal Operating Intelligence System, or LOIS, as an operating layer for documents, research, data and case processes. INQ, formerly known as Anoto Group, is using the partnership to test whether digital handwriting can become an enterprise integration layer rather than a standalone hardware product. That distinction matters in legal operations, where paper remains part of client meetings, depositions, matter mapping and negotiations, even as firms adopt legal AI and cloud platforms.
