JUNE's MCP V10 Plugs AI Assistants Into Law Firm Case Files

JUNE has released version 10 of its Model Context Protocol software, giving legal professionals direct access to case files, deadlines, and documents through conversational AI assistants including Microsoft Copilot, Anthropic's Claude, and OpenAI's ChatGPT. The release positions the AI assistant — rather than dedicated practice-management software — as the primary workspace where lawyers and legal operations staff begin their day.

The launch reflects a broader reordering of the legal technology stack. For two decades, matter management, e-discovery, and contract platforms operated as stand-alone systems of record. Generative AI has begun inverting that hierarchy: lawyers increasingly expect to ask a question in natural language and receive an answer grounded in their own firm's data. Vendors that once competed on workflow depth now compete on connectivity — which repositories their assistants can reach, and how safely. JUNE, which has built its platform around case-file infrastructure for litigation and transactional teams, is betting that whoever owns the bridge between large language models and structured legal data will hold a defensible position even as the underlying models commoditize.
