Kirkland & Ellis, Palantir Launch PE Fund Platform

Kirkland & Ellis and Palantir Technologies launched an AI-powered private equity fundraising platform on June 4, 2026.

Kirkland & Ellis and Palantir Technologies announced a new enterprise platform on June 4, 2026, to automate and streamline private equity fund formation workflows using Palantir's Artificial Intelligence Platform (AIP). The partnership expands an existing multiyear relationship between the two firms to deliver custom legal technology solutions at scale.

This matters because private equity fundraising generates enormous documentation, compliance and investor management demands. Kirkland supported nearly $500 billion in capital raised or targeted for clients in 2025 alone, and the new platform is designed to handle that volume more efficiently and consistently.

The Problem It Solves

Private equity fundraising has grown significantly more complex in recent years. Fund managers must process large volumes of investor-specific requirements, transaction histories and compliance obligations across multiple global legal frameworks simultaneously.

Historically, this knowledge has been spread across hundreds of attorneys, documents and spreadsheets. Accessing it in real time, during active transactions, has been slow and inconsistent.

The new platform addresses this by centralizing Kirkland's institutional knowledge into a single operational system. It connects funds, market technology, legal obligations and transaction history so lawyers can act on that knowledge directly during execution, not after the fact.

How the Platform Works

The platform is built specifically around Kirkland's own workflows, legal judgment and institutional knowledge. It is not a general-purpose legal AI tool adapted for law firms. Palantir contributed its ontological expertise, which refers to its method of structuring complex, interconnected data into a unified, queryable system.

The platform covers the full private equity fundraising lifecycle. This includes fund documentation, investor solutions, side letter drafting, obligation tracking, closing commitments and ongoing compliance monitoring.

More than 1,000 lawyers in Kirkland's Investment Funds Group will have access to the platform. The system is designed to make the judgment of the firm's most senior lawyers accessible across that entire group at scale.

Erica Berthou, Partner and Executive Committee Member at Kirkland & Ellis, described the operational problem the platform is built to solve.

"Private equity fundraising has become significantly more complex, requiring fund managers to manage enormous volumes of information, transaction history and investor-specific requirements across global commercial and legal frameworks," Berthou said. "We are building this revolutionary fund formation engine to help clients navigate that complexity more efficiently across the full lifecycle of a fundraise and beyond."

Ryan Taylor, Chief Legal Officer of Palantir, framed the platform as part of a broader shift in how professional services firms will operate.

"Kirkland is defining what the next generation of professional services will look like," Taylor said. "Together, we are disrupting the global fundraising market and advancing a broader vision for its future, an enterprise operating system that compounds every transaction relationship, decision and obligation into a continuously improving platform."

Strategic Significance

The partnership between Kirkland and Palantir reflects a broader movement in legal services toward building proprietary technology rather than purchasing off-the-shelf software. Law firms serving private equity clients face increasing pressure to deliver faster turnaround times, greater consistency and more transparency across complex, multi-party transactions.

By embedding senior legal judgment directly into automated workflows, the platform reduces the latency that typically comes with consulting senior attorneys at each stage of a fundraise. It also allows Kirkland to apply consistent standards across all clients and transactions, regardless of which attorneys are working on a given matter.

The platform is the product of an expanded multiyear partnership between the two firms. It is designed to continue improving over time as more transactions, obligations and decisions are processed through the system.
