Law Firms Form Global Legal Tech Alliance

More than fifteen international law firms launched the Global Legal Tech Alliance on April 22, 2026, to jointly develop AI-enabled legal services.

Law firms across jurisdictions have long faced similar hurdles in adopting AI and legal technology tools, yet no structured, firm-led platform existed to tackle them together. The Global Legal Tech Alliance directly addresses that gap.

Alliance Overview

Hogan Lovells, one of the world's largest global law firms, initiated the alliance alongside member firms spanning the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Member firms include Cadwalader, Tilleke & Gibbins, Moll Wendén, Levy & Salomão Advogados, Havel & Partners, Gercke Wollschläger, AGS Legal, Winter Thürk, Walder Wyss, MLL Legal, and Jiménez Peña Abogados. Additional firms are expected to join shortly.

The alliance operates across three formal structures. The Global Legal Tech Alliance Academy provides shared training resources and development programmes for legal professionals at all levels. The Global Legal Tech Alliance Forum enables regular peer exchange on emerging technology and legal operations. The Global Legal Tech Alliance Strategic Forum brings together senior leadership for longer-term dialogue on the direction of legal technology and its implications for the profession.

The Core Problem

Law firms across different countries encounter comparable obstacles when adopting AI and legal technology tools. Until now, no coordinated, firm-led forum existed to address those challenges together.

The alliance is built on the premise that law firms hold high-quality data, possess a deep understanding of legal issues, and adhere to high ethical standards of practice. Member firms argue this positions them better than outside technology vendors to drive innovation within the legal sector.

Moll Wendén, a Swedish business law firm and alliance member, notes that a significant proportion of law firms' traditional services are expected to be automated, streamlined, or eliminated entirely over time. The firm states that technology development is no longer a complement to legal practice but a necessity for firms to remain relevant.

Ebba Walberg Snygg, Managing Partner at Moll Wendén, noted that the alliance creates opportunities to build and license products that support clients' in-house legal departments in their day-to-day work. She added that collaboration across member firms will enable the development of compliance services spanning multiple jurisdictions, which she described as critical for many of the firm's clients.

Michael Isler, Member of the Management Board at Walder Wyss, said the alliance fits into the firm's digital strategy and provides a platform for scaling secure, practical legal technology solutions that promote consistency and strengthen the client experience.

Collaboration Structure

The alliance aims to establish common standards and co-create solutions for complex legal workflows across borders. Member firms come from jurisdictions across the Americas, Europe, and Asia.

HAVEL & PARTNERS, the largest independent law firm in Central and Eastern Europe, joined the alliance as part of its ongoing work in AI implementation and digitalization. Robert Nešpůrek, Partner at HAVEL & PARTNERS, stated that the firm views technology not only as a tool but as an opportunity to work smarter and faster, both for clients and internally within the firm.

For international companies, the alliance recognises that legal services now extend beyond individual advisory engagements. Legal functions increasingly need to operate across multiple markets, manage growing regulatory requirements, and integrate into clients' business systems.
