LEGALFLY Expands Legal AI Access to All Staff

LEGALFLY has launched Collaborator Access, opening its legal AI platform to all business departments beyond legal teams.

LEGALFLY, a legal operating system for corporates, launched Collaborator Access, extending its AI-driven legal platform to all enterprise employees who handle legal work, not just lawyers. The update allows departments such as procurement, sales, HR, and operations to interact directly with legal systems inside guardrails set by the legal team.

This launch matters because in-house legal teams regularly become bottlenecks when non-legal staff need contract reviews, compliance answers, or procurement guidance. Collaborator Access is designed to remove that bottleneck by giving business users a structured, safe way to handle legal tasks independently.

What It Does

Collaborator Access gives business teams a lower-cost licence compared to standard legal-team licences. Within this access, users can ask legal questions and conduct document reviews, but only within controls set by the legal team.

Escalation points are built in from the start. When a review reaches a defined checkpoint, the system routes it to legal for approval automatically.

How Users Access It

Collaborator users can work through LEGALFLY's Microsoft Word and Outlook add-ins. This means they can review contracts or raise legal questions directly inside tools they already use, with no new software to learn.

Requests can also be triggered via email, Slack, or Microsoft Teams. Documents and queries are routed to the right person, triaged, and sent forward without requiring any change management from the organisation.

A company's legal policy can be embedded once by the legal team. After that, any Collaborator user can query it through a chat interface, which can also be embedded within existing internal systems.

Early Adoption

LEGALFLY has already rolled out Collaborator Access with several clients, including DAS Rechtsbijstand, AXA, and Foyer Group. At Wealins, which is part of Foyer Group and the largest insurer in Luxembourg, multiple departments have adopted the platform.

Luc Rasscheart, CEO of Wealins, said: "Our compliance team, who do the AML and KYC checks, have started using LEGALFLY because of its document anonymisation capabilities. The Operations team also uses it for the same KYC reasons. More recently, to my surprise, our Finance team has begun using it following the addition of Excel file support."

Across a large enterprise, managers, department heads, and vice presidents typically outnumber lawyers by a ratio of ten to one. Each of these roles generates legal work regularly, including contracts, compliance questions, procurement decisions, and employment matters.

Risk and Data Controls

All Collaborator Access users benefit from LEGALFLY's default data anonymisation. This applies automatically to sensitive information shared through the platform.

The feature also addresses a specific risk that arises when employees use general-purpose AI tools for legal questions. When staff ask legal questions to a generalist AI chatbot, they may bypass the legal team using inaccurate information, creating hidden risks for the business.

Ruben Miessen, CEO of LEGALFLY, addressed this directly: "AI is very powerful, but can be misused. We want to ensure that employees outside of the legal team are using the right AI tools. There is risk attached to using generalist generative AI: if employees ask legal questions to a generalist AI chatbot, it is probable that they might circumvent the legal team using potentially bad information, and create hidden risks for the business."
