LegalOn Raises $50M to Scale AI Legal Tools

LegalOn Technologies raised $50 million in Series E funding led by Goldman Sachs to expand its AI-powered contract review platform globally.

Goldman Sachs Leads Major Investment Round

LegalOn Technologies, a legal AI company specializing in contract review, closed a $50 million Series E funding round on July 24, 2025. Growth Equity at Goldman Sachs Alternatives led the investment, with participation from existing investor World Innovation Lab and new investors including Mori Hamada, Mizuho Bank, and Shoko Chukin.

The funding brings LegalOn's total capital raised to $200 million since its 2017 founding. The Tokyo-based company operates globally with headquarters in San Francisco and serves over 7,000 customers worldwide.

Product Cuts Review Times by 85%

LegalOn's primary product, Review, uses AI to identify contract risks and suggest revisions based on attorney-built playbooks and organizational legal standards. The platform reduces contract review time by up to 85% while maintaining quality and accuracy standards.

The company recently expanded into matter management, launching tools that help legal teams track contract requests, assign ownership, and coordinate with other departments. LegalOn plans to release additional AI agents throughout 2025 to manage legal work from initial request through resolution.

Strategic Partnership with OpenAI Announced

LegalOn simultaneously announced a strategic collaboration with OpenAI to integrate advanced language models into its legal AI platform. The partnership provides LegalOn access to OpenAI's latest models and enables joint engineering collaboration between both companies' technical teams.

The collaboration aims to develop more adaptable legal AI agents by combining OpenAI's language processing capabilities with LegalOn's legal domain expertise and proprietary legal data.
