Legora Launches AI Program at 9 Top Law Schools

Legora has partnered with nine leading U.S. law schools to launch the Legal AI Scholars Program, giving students access to enterprise-grade legal AI tools.

The program places professional AI software directly into law school classrooms. As law firms increasingly expect AI proficiency from new hires, law schools face pressure to close the skills gap before students graduate. This initiative addresses that gap by embedding real-world tools into legal education before students enter the workforce.

The Founding Schools

The nine founding member institutions are Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, Stanford Law School, University of Chicago Law School, Cornell Law School, UCLA School of Law, The University of Texas School of Law, Vanderbilt Law School, Boston University School of Law, and University of San Francisco School of Law.

All nine schools will receive access to the same Legora platform used by law firms and corporate legal teams. The announcement was made on March 25, 2026.

What Students Learn

Students enrolled in the program will develop skills across four core areas: AI-assisted drafting and document review, legal analysis, research synthesis, and large-scale document review.

Faculty will also receive specialised training. Legora's dedicated law school team will work directly with faculty to build AI-focused curriculum modules.

The program is designed to produce graduates who can deliver work product from day one on the job. This reduces the time and cost that law firms typically spend training new associates on AI tools.

Why Schools Joined

Law school deans cited both professional preparation and ethical responsibility as reasons for joining.

"AI proficiency is a core skill law students need when applying to top legal jobs, and we are committed to helping students become practice-ready by the time they graduate," said Max Junestrand, CEO and Co-founder of Legora.

Cornell Law School Dean Jens David Ohlin connected the program to broader institutional goals: "Cornell Law School prepares our students to thrive in a profession shaped by rapid innovation and grounded in professional responsibility. We equip students with sound legal knowledge, skill, and judgment, and also with the critical thinking and ethical AI literacy skills necessary for legal practice today."

Several other founding deans noted that access to justice and ethical AI use were central to their decision. Boston University School of Law Dean Angela Onwuachi-Willig said the partnership would help students engage with AI "in ways that enhance access to justice, strengthen legal analysis, and prepare them for the evolving demands of modern practice."

University of Chicago Law School Dean Adam Chilton highlighted the program's direct integration of classroom and clinic settings, allowing faculty and students to explore AI applications in both instructional contexts and real-world legal work.

Expansion Plans

Legora plans to add more law schools to the program in the coming months. The company has not announced specific names or a timeline for the next cohort, but stated that expansion will focus on schools in key jurisdictions.
