LexisNexis Adds Corporate Lawyer to Build AI Workflows for Large Firms

LexisNexis has hired former corporate attorney Moe Katchen to help large law firms design AI-assisted workflows for transactional work, the company said Sept. 24. Katchen joins the Large Law Knowledge Management & Innovation team as a Legal Engineer, working with firm stakeholders on implementations built through Lexis+ with Protégé. The appointment gives LexisNexis a practitioner with experience in mergers and acquisitions as it expands the human support around its legal AI products.

The hire reflects a shift in how enterprise legal technology vendors are positioning artificial intelligence. Product access alone does not resolve the harder questions facing law firms: which parts of a transaction can be systematized, how workflows should be configured, and where lawyers must retain control over judgment. LexisNexis is responding with a consultative model that pairs software with people who understand the work being redesigned. Katchen’s path—from Bain & Company consultant to corporate lawyer at Alston & Bird and McDermott Will & Schulte—fits that approach. Katchen will focus on custom AI-powered workflows for large firms using Lexis+ with Protégé, according to the announcement. His experience centers on corporate transactions and M&A, areas where lawyers manage large volumes of documents, recurring review tasks and fast-moving coordination among deal participants. LexisNexis said the role is intended to help firms implement workflows rather than simply purchase access to a platform.
