LexisNexis Legal & Professional made Lexis+ with Protégé generally available on February 24, 2026, in New York. The platform replaces Lexis+ AI and allows legal professionals to run complex legal workflows from a single conversational prompt. The company built it to reduce the risk of switching between multiple AI tools while keeping all outputs grounded in citable legal authority.

This launch matters because law firms and corporate legal departments have struggled with fragmented AI tools that require manual switching and produce inconsistent results. Lexis+ with Protégé centralizes research, drafting, review, and citation checking into one platform, giving legal teams a repeatable and auditable process for high-volume work.

What the Platform Does

Users can type a single prompt and access both pre-built and custom workflow capabilities without moving between applications. The platform connects to LexisNexis content, users' own uploaded documents, and general AI models from Anthropic, Google, and OpenAI.

Shepard's citations, a long-standing LexisNexis tool for verifying the legal validity of cases and statutes, underpins every output. This means results are not only generated by AI but also checked against authoritative legal sources before delivery.

Pre-Built Workflow Options

At general availability, the platform includes pre-built workflows across three categories: litigation, transactional, and everyday legal tasks. Legal professionals can use these workflows as-is or adapt them to match firm or department standards.

Specific tasks the platform supports include drafting a motion to dismiss, generating discovery and deposition documents, creating transactional clauses, redlining agreements against internal standards, analyzing high-risk contract provisions, comparing laws or legal arguments, and summarizing interviews. Each workflow runs on LexisNexis content and its legal knowledge graph.

Custom Workflow Builder

Beyond pre-built options, the platform includes a no-code Custom Workflow Builder. Law firms and legal departments can use it to design, test, and share multi-step workflows based on their own playbooks and institutional standards.

The builder requires no programming knowledge. Once built, workflows can be shared across teams to ensure consistent output quality, reducing variation in how different staff members handle the same type of legal task.

Scale and Coming Features

The LexisNexis content library behind the platform includes more than 200 billion documents, with over 4 million new documents added every day. Citation, trust, and validity signals are updated continuously, keeping the platform current with new legal developments.

LexisNexis has also announced several capabilities coming soon to the platform. These include advanced practice-area workflows for civil litigation, mergers and acquisitions, real estate, and labor and employment matters. New agentic and persona workflows are also in development, building on agentic capabilities the company announced in 2024. Agentic AI refers to systems that can take sequences of actions and make decisions across multi-step tasks with limited human input.

Alongside the platform, LexisNexis is rolling out a white glove service for organizations that want hands-on support. Specialized workflow teams will help customers build custom workflows, migrate existing workflows, standardize processes across departments, and train staff on the platform. This service targets organizations managing large-scale deployment across multiple practice groups or legal teams.
