Litera, a legal AI platform provider, launched a global integration of Litera Compare with Google Workspace on April 20, 2026, from Chicago. The integration makes document comparison and redlining tools available to law firms and corporate legal teams directly inside Google Drive and Google Docs. Litera built this integration to remove the need for legal professionals to switch between platforms when reviewing and comparing legal documents.

This move matters because legal teams lose billable time every time they leave their primary work environment to access a separate tool. With this integration, lawyers can run full document comparisons, access AI-powered summaries, and get risk analysis without downloading files or switching applications.

The Core Problem

Legal teams that store documents in Google Drive face a specific problem: most AI tools cannot operate directly on those files. This forces lawyers to manually download documents, convert them, run comparisons in a separate platform, and then return to their workflow. Each step adds time and increases the chance of errors.

Litera Compare now connects directly to Google Drive through a new Litera connector. Lawyers can access and compare documents for redlining directly within Google Docs, eliminating the need for downloads or format conversions.

What the Tools Do

Litera Compare tracks changes between two or more documents, covering text, tables, images, and other content across file types. It delivers a 100% accuracy rate for tracking redlines, which are the marked changes that lawyers use to review edits in legal documents.

Alongside Compare, users also get access to Lito, Litera's legal AI agent, included in the Litera Compare subscription. Lito supports chat-based comparison, document summaries, risk and mitigation cues, multi-document chat, grid reviews, review terms, deal point insights, and prompt skills. All of these capabilities work on Google-hosted documents without requiring any file conversion.

The full Lito capability set operates through the Litera One web platform, accepting Google Drive documents as direct inputs. According to Litera, Compare and Lito together save five hours per document comparison.

Litera Compare has served over 15,000 firms and legal departments for more than 30 years. The platform is now available through the Google Workspace Marketplace, making it accessible to any legal team already working in Google's environment.

What Comes Next

The core Litera project team, including Kenneth Pechous, Joey Benedek (Senior Vice President of Product), and Ivan Martinez (Senior Product Manager), will be at Google Cloud's booth during Google Cloud Next from April 22 to 24, 2026, in Las Vegas. They will discuss the integration and answer questions from legal teams exploring Google Workspace-based legal AI solutions.

Litera will also host a virtual event on May 21, 2026, from 11:00 to 11:30 AM EDT. The webinar targets legal and operations leaders who use Google Workspace and want to see how Litera Compare and Lito function natively inside Google Docs and Google Drive.
