Manifest OS Raises $60M to Reshape Legal Services

Manifest OS secured a $60M Series A at a $750M valuation on April 28, 2026, to scale its AI-native law firm model.

The New York-based company raised the largest Series A in legal technology history, with backing from Menlo Ventures, Kleiner Perkins, First Round Capital, and Quiet Capital. Manifest OS powers law firms that charge fixed fees instead of billing by the hour, starting with business immigration services.

This funding matters because 80% of American businesses and consumers currently cannot afford a lawyer when they need one, largely due to hourly billing that drives up costs without tying pay to results.

The Billing Problem

The billable hour model ties law firm revenue to time spent, not outcomes delivered. It accounts for 90% of all spending across a U.S. legal industry worth roughly $400 billion.

Billing rates rose 7.4% on average in 2025 and can reach $3,000 per hour. Lawyers at small and solo practices, which represent about 78% of respondents in American Bar Association surveys, spend up to two-thirds of their time on non-legal administrative work.

"I've spent my career as general counsel for some of the largest tech companies in the world and seen firsthand how the billable hour model creates friction on both sides of the table," said David Schellhase, former General Counsel at Salesforce, Groupon, and Slack, and a Manifest investor. "Companies want fee transparency, predictability, and speed."

How Manifest OS Works

Manifest OS provides three things to the law firms it powers: a shared brand, a software platform, and a centralized back office.

The software handles client communication, legal research, document drafting, billing, and reporting in one platform. AI agents assist with tasks like document gathering and form filling, and all AI-generated documents go through multiple rounds of attorney review before submission.

The back office handles intake, business development, quality assurance, and collections, freeing attorneys to focus solely on legal work. Manifest OS incubated its first firm, Manifest Law, under Arizona's Alternative Business Structure (ABS) program, which allows non-lawyers to have economic ownership in law firms while keeping legal decisions exclusively with licensed attorneys.

Early Results

In 18 months, Manifest Law completed over 3,000 client engagements, ranging from startup founders to large technology companies. The firm now works with more than 100 immigration attorneys, each with an average of over 10 years of experience.

Visa approval rates for cases handled by Manifest Law were 15% higher than the national average during Q3 2025, compared to published USCIS rates for EB-1 and O-1 visas. Client response times were three times faster than those at traditional firms.

Demand from attorneys has been high: out of more than 5,000 applicants, fewer than 1% were accepted.

Investor Perspective

Investors backing the round pointed to the size of the legal market and the gap left by existing legal technology products. The $6 billion invested in legal technology last year largely went toward tools that increased law firm profitability without reducing costs for clients.

"Manifest OS is taking a differentiated approach to the legal industry by building or supporting a series of AI-native law firms," said Ilya Fushman, Managing Partner at Kleiner Perkins. "Selling AI-native services is where a lot of the industry's value will be concentrated, and Manifest OS is uniquely positioned to build a category-defining market leader."

Manifest OS plans to use the funding to expand its immigration services globally and grow into additional practice areas.
