UK managed services provider Quiss Technology has formed a strategic partnership with UAE-founded generative AI startup Qanooni AI to integrate legal drafting and research tools into Microsoft 365 for law firms. The collaboration will see Quiss integrate Qanooni's platform into its portfolio of services for its extensive law firm client base. Quiss maintains a selective approach to technology partnerships, working with only a limited number of providers to ensure quality service delivery.
Why This Partnership Matters
This collaboration addresses time-consuming manual processes in legal work by embedding AI directly into lawyers' existing workflows. The partnership targets mid-tier UK law firms seeking to reduce document turnaround times while maintaining quality standards. Legal professionals traditionally spend significant time on document creation, review, and research tasks that can now be accelerated through AI integration. The partnership represents a strategic move to bring advanced AI capabilities to firms that may lack the resources to implement such technology independently.
Qanooni AI Secures $2M Funding and UK Expansion
Qanooni AI raised $2 million in June 2025 with backing from Village Global, Salica Investments' Oryx Fund, TA Ventures, and strategic angels. The Dubai-based startup was founded in 2024 by former lawyers and engineers Anuscha Iqbal, Ziyaad Ahmed, and Karim Shiyab. The funding round was designed to support the company's expansion across the UAE and UK markets, with additional funding rounds planned for the future.
Rob Lawson, formerly a sales head at Perfect Portal and Moneypenny, joined as head of sales and partnerships to launch Qanooni in the UK market. Lawson brings previous experience as a personal injury fee-earner, providing him with firsthand understanding of legal practice requirements. The company currently runs pilot programs with two UK top 100 law firms, demonstrating early traction in the competitive legal technology market.
"Qanooni is built to work the way lawyers do," Lawson told Legal IT Insider. "Our platform helps legal professionals go from first draft to final review with dramatically reduced turnaround times—without compromising on quality or tone."
Microsoft 365 Integration Creates Seamless Workflow
The Qanooni platform embeds directly into Microsoft Word and Outlook, supporting first-draft generation and legal research. The system handles clause-level contract review, litigation chronologies, and matter summaries while integrating with existing document management systems. This integration eliminates the need for lawyers to switch between multiple applications, maintaining their familiar workflow while adding AI capabilities. The platform adapts to internal tone, templates, and playbooks, allowing firms to maintain their established practices while accelerating document production.
Quiss Technology Expands AI Portfolio
Quiss Technology, a certified Microsoft partner specializing in Azure, 365, Teams, and Copilot, maintains partnerships with a limited number of technology providers. The company previously partnered with AI timekeeping solution Laurel, which recently completed a $100 million Series C funding round. Quiss serves a large range of law firm clients and focuses on providing digital transformation services specifically tailored to the legal sector. The selective partnership approach allows Quiss to maintain quality control and ensure deep integration capabilities for their clients.
David Ricketts, head of marketing at Quiss Technology, emphasized practical implementation over theoretical benefits. "Legal AI needs to be more than just clever—it has to be practical, secure, and fit seamlessly into the day-to-day life of a law firm," Ricketts said. The partnership reflects Quiss's strategy of identifying AI solutions that deliver measurable value rather than pursuing technology for its own sake.
Growing Legal AI Market Adoption
The partnership reflects broader adoption of AI tools in professional services, with firms increasingly seeking technology solutions that deliver measurable results. Laurel's AI time recording platform reports that firms using their technology capture an additional 28 billable minutes per day per professional, with enterprise firms seeing profit increases between 4-11%. These statistics demonstrate the tangible financial benefits that AI implementation can provide to law firms. The growing market acceptance of AI tools in legal practice suggests that partnerships like Quiss-Qanooni represent a trend toward more integrated, workflow-specific AI solutions.
