Relativity Launches aiR Assist for All

Relativity has made aiR Assist generally available within RelativityOne, giving legal teams instant AI-powered answers from large document sets.

Legal technology company Relativity announced on June 16, 2026, the general availability of aiR Assist and custom analyses in aiR for Review, both now standard features in its RelativityOne platform. The rollout, announced at the company's RelFest event in London, allows legal teams to ask plain-language questions of their document data and receive cited answers without manual review.

The announcement matters because it moves AI querying from an optional add-on to a built-in part of the RelativityOne workflow, meaning legal teams no longer need separate tools to get early insight from large document collections.

What It Does

aiR Assist allows legal professionals to type natural language questions directly into RelativityOne and receive precise, sourced answers within seconds. The tool supports up to 300,000 documents per index and 1.5 million documents per workspace.

Legal teams can use it to find key documents, map timelines, identify relationships between people, and surface recurring themes across a matter. All outputs stay within the RelativityOne environment, so no data needs to be exported to third-party tools.

Custom analyses in aiR for Review extend this further. Teams can define their own review criteria in plain language and apply those criteria across an entire document set with no coding or technical setup required.

Why It Differs

Phil Saunders, CEO of Relativity, explained what distinguishes the product from other AI tools currently on the market.

"Almost any AI solution can read a document. Almost none can be the single, auditable source of truth for every piece of data in your matter," said Saunders. "That's the difference: insights grounded in actual data, outputs defensible by design, and governance that holds up when it counts, in court, before a regulator or in front of a board."

The emphasis on auditability is a direct response to a specific problem legal teams face: AI-generated outputs that cannot be traced back to source documents are difficult to use in litigation or regulatory proceedings. Relativity positions aiR Assist as a tool whose results are tied directly to the underlying data, making them verifiable and defensible.

Early Results

Several legal organizations have already used aiR Assist during its earlier access phase, and their feedback points to measurable time savings.

Interpath, a forensic investigations firm, used aiR Assist to surface critical evidence early in a matter. Gina Bieber, Director at Interpath, said: "With aiR Assist, we can ask natural questions of the data and surface critical evidence and actionable answers in minutes. It is the easiest tool to use in the history of Relativity. You just ask it a question, and it answers."

Korein Tillery, a litigation firm, reported a similar experience. Stephanie Clerkin, Director of Litigation Support, described a specific instance where a term appeared in a document that the whole team did not recognize. She asked aiR Assist, and the relevant document appeared in under a minute.

KordaMentha, a forensic and advisory firm, combined aiR Assist with aiR for Review and aiR for Case Strategy. Roman Barbera, Partner, Forensic at KordaMentha, noted that using the three tools together enables deeper case understanding before document review even begins.

Rollout Timeline

Relativity confirmed that both aiR Assist and custom analyses in aiR for Review will be standard in RelativityOne by the end of June 2026. No additional configuration or separate purchase is required for existing RelativityOne users.

The announcement came on the same day as the company's RelFest event in London and follows Relativity's recent acquisition of Gavel, a contract AI company. The addition of Gavel expands the platform's reach beyond litigation and investigation into contract review and management.

Relativity stated that these capabilities extend the platform's ability to deliver earlier insight and more flexible document review across a broader range of legal data work.
