Slaughter and May Rolls Out Harvey AI Firmwide

Slaughter and May, the London-based Magic Circle law firm with over 1,400 partners and staff, adopted Harvey's AI platform firmwide.

The move places Slaughter and May among the majority of Magic Circle firms that have now selected dedicated AI platforms for firm-wide legal work. It signals a broader shift in how elite law firms are embedding AI tools directly into their core practice operations, rather than running isolated pilots.

The Full Rollout

The firm is deploying Harvey's full platform across all practice areas. Lawyers will use it to support work on multi-jurisdictional matters, covering mergers and acquisitions (M&A), due diligence, regulatory research, and document analysis.

Harvey was selected after months of testing. According to the announcement, the firm chose Harvey for its agentic capabilities (meaning AI that can carry out multi-step tasks independently), its security standards, its prior experience supporting AI adoption inside major law firms, and its presence across the firm's existing client base.

Harvey's Transformation Office will work alongside the firm during the rollout. The office includes experienced legal professionals who will support responsible and effective adoption across the business.

Both statements place human oversight at the center of the firm's approach, with lawyers remaining responsible for supervising AI-generated work.

Harvey's Position

Harvey is an AI platform built specifically for legal, tax, and finance professionals. The company has been expanding its presence among large law firms globally. Slaughter and May joins a list of major law firms that have adopted Harvey, including A&O Shearman, which was among the first large firms to do so.

Magic Circle Context

Slaughter and May is one of five firms in the UK's Magic Circle, a group of elite London-headquartered international law firms. Of the five, at least four have now announced firmwide AI platform partnerships. Linklaters selected Legora, A&O Shearman chose Harvey, and Freshfields announced a partnership with Anthropic. Slaughter and May has now also aligned with Harvey.

The Magic Circle firms carry influence that reaches beyond their own practices. Their technology choices tend to shape decisions at other major firms and, over time, affect how AI tools are adopted more broadly across the legal market.

Slaughter and May operates a global "best friends" network of leading law firms across different jurisdictions, which could extend the reach of this adoption further.
