Solve Intelligence Tops IP Platform Rankings Among Global Law Firms

Solve Intelligence ranked first in the Patents/IP category in a 2025 legal AI survey of 130 top law firms worldwide.

The London-based AI company Solve Intelligence has claimed the top spot in the Patents/IP category of the latest Legal AI survey published by SKILLS, the Strategic Knowledge and Innovation Legal Leaders Summit. The study, which evaluated 130 leaders at leading law firms globally, scored platforms on live deployments, active pilots, and tools under consideration. Solve Intelligence received a weighted score of 67, placing it ahead of all competitors in the intellectual property software segment.

This ranking signals a broader shift in how law firms are adopting AI tools specifically built for patent work. As legal teams face growing pressure to handle more complex IP workloads with fewer resources, purpose-built platforms are drawing stronger adoption than general-purpose legal tools.

What the Survey Found

The SKILLS survey assessed platforms across every major legal practice area. In the Patents/IP category, Solve Intelligence led the field with 11 live deployments, 9 active pilots, and 5 firms with the platform under active consideration.

Its nearest competitors scored considerably lower. Clarivate followed with a weighted score of 49, Patsnap received 38, and Patlytics scored 31. The gap between Solve Intelligence and second place represents a difference of 18 weighted points.

The survey covered 130 legal leaders, making it one of the larger samples of senior law firm decision-makers reported in legal AI research this year.

How the Platform Works

Solve Intelligence employs a team of US, UK, and European qualified patent attorneys who work alongside software and AI engineers. Together, they design platform features, evaluate output quality, and shape the logic that determines what the platform produces.

The platform supports a range of technical disciplines. Chemistry practitioners can embed Markush structures, a notation system used in chemical patent claims, into detailed descriptions. Hardware practitioners can generate labeled figures directly from CAD files. The company reports that users have recorded time savings of 60 to 90 per cent across workflows, including drafting, prosecution, and claim charting.

The platform now serves over 500 IP teams across six continents.

Customer Feedback and Expansion

The company builds its product roadmap around direct input from customers. Engineers and attorneys work with clients to customise the platform to specific guidelines, styles, and templates.

Growth and New Offices

Solve Intelligence began with patent application drafting before expanding into prosecution workflows. In the current year, the company launched Charts, a product designed for claim charting, freedom-to-operate analyses, and invalidity assessments. Freedom-to-operate analysis determines whether a product or process can be used without infringing existing patents.

The company is opening new offices in New York and Munich as part of its global expansion. It has also introduced a Customer Advisory Board to deepen collaboration with existing users.

The company attributed its ranking to its combination of patent attorney involvement in product development and close engagement with law firm customers throughout the deployment process.
