Thirdfort Relaunches Platform With AI Tools

Thirdfort, a London-based client due diligence company, rebuilt its compliance platform, adding AI-powered features to help regulated firms manage client risk in one place.

The relaunch matters because compliance teams in legal, property, and accountancy firms currently rely on fragmented tools to handle identity checks, anti-money laundering (AML) screening, and financial background reviews. Gaps between these tools increase the risk of missed warning signs and create audit trail problems with regulators.

What Changed

The rebuilt platform brings together four functions that previously required separate workflows: ID and document verification, Know Your Business (KYB) checks, AML screening, and Source of Funds (SoF) analysis. KYB checks verify the legal identity and ownership structure of a business client. SoF analysis confirms the origin of funds a client is using in a transaction.

The platform now includes a task management function that tracks outstanding compliance actions and automatically escalates checks when required. A reporting and activity log allows legal and compliance teams to document their processes for regulators, insurers, and senior partners.

AI Integration

The updated platform uses AI to scan, extract, and interpret data used in source of funds analyses. According to Thirdfort, the platform was also structurally redesigned to allow its engineering team to add new AI features for other due diligence tasks more quickly as those tools are developed.

Jack Bidgood, co-founder and chief product officer at Thirdfort, explained the dual purpose of the rebuild: "For our clients, it means AI they can trust, every output shows its workings, with a human in the loop and a full audit trail. For us, it means we can move faster than ever before: adding new capabilities, responding to regulatory changes and building toward a more automated compliance workflow."

The platform is available immediately to both new and existing Thirdfort clients.

The Problem It Solves

Compliance teams operating in regulated industries face increasing pressure from two directions. Regulators are requiring more detailed documentation and greater rigor in client checks. At the same time, fee earners and their clients expect faster, lower-friction onboarding processes.

Olly Thornton-Berry, co-founder and CEO of Thirdfort, described the core issue the rebuild addresses: "Compliance teams are under more pressure than ever, from regulators demanding greater rigour and from fee earners and their clients wanting less friction. Too often, the tools they're working with make that harder. We've rebuilt our platform from the ground up to change that, giving compliance teams full visibility of risk across their entire portfolio."

The rebuilt platform is designed to give compliance leads granular control over user permissions and to surface risks across an entire client portfolio in a single view.

The Competitive Landscape

Thirdfort operates in a market alongside several established companies offering compliance software. ComplyAdvantage provides AI-powered fraud and AML risk detection. Diligent offers due diligence reports and enhanced due diligence services involving local investigators. NICE Actimize and SymphonyAI both provide AML software solutions.

In 2024, compliance software company EQS acquired ethics and compliance platform Convercent, signaling continued consolidation in the sector.

The client due diligence software market continues to attract investment as regulatory requirements tighten across legal, financial, and property sectors globally.
