Ironclad Launches AI Contract Intelligence Tools

Ironclad has launched AI-powered contract intelligence features, including Ironclad Assistant and new agents.

Contract management software company Ironclad introduced a new suite of AI tools on March 19, 2026, designed to help legal, procurement, and finance teams extract actionable insights from contracts. The launch includes Ironclad Assistant, a Renewal Dashboard, and several specialized AI agents built to surface renewal risks, cost savings, and workflow blockers across the contract lifecycle.

This matters because contract data often goes underused inside businesses. Teams manually export files, scroll through comment threads, and chase stakeholders before renewal deadlines, causing delays, missed savings, and undetected risk exposure.

What Ironclad Launched

The centerpiece of the launch is Ironclad Assistant, a natural language interface that lets users query contract data using plain questions. Users can ask things like which customer contracts renew in the next 90 days or which contracts include limitation of liability clauses above $250,000.

The assistant draws from anonymized data patterns across more than 2,000 customers and over 2 billion contracts processed. It reasons across structured and unstructured contract data, workflows, and legal context to deliver answers.

Ironclad also launched a Renewal Dashboard, which gives teams a single view of upcoming contract renewals. It surfaces expiration dates, notice deadlines, contract values, and business owners in one place.

The New AI Agents

Three new AI agents power the Ironclad Assistant behind the scenes, each handling a specific part of the contract lifecycle.

The Renewal Agent generates renewal briefs that summarize key contract terms, vendor relationship history, renewal timing, and vendor health signals. It gives teams the context they need before entering renewal negotiations.

The Cost Savings Agent works as a subagent within the Renewal Agent. It analyzes vendor contracts to identify potential savings opportunities before renewal, including volume discounts, rebates, and bundled pricing options.

The Archive Agent streamlines contract archiving by extracting key metadata and prompting users to verify it. This helps ensure that executed contracts are stored with accurate, consistent data that is easy to retrieve later.

According to Ironclad, acting capabilities, which allow the assistant to trigger agents and launch workflows automatically, will be available in early access starting April 15, 2026.

How It Differs

Ironclad positions its approach as distinct from tools that simply add a chatbot on top of a contract repository. The company states that most AI contract tools analyze documents in isolation, without accounting for the workflow context around them.

Ironclad Assistant is built to understand where a document sits in the approval process, how many documents are in each workflow stage, and what edits or approvals are pending. This context shapes the answers it provides.

The platform also connects contract intelligence to the teams that need it beyond legal, including procurement, finance, sales, and IT. From a single conversation, users can trigger workflow-native agents to initiate tasks across the business.

On the security side, Ironclad states that its AI and agents operate within the same permission model already in place for each user. The platform carries SOC and ISO certifications and uses zero data retention policies along with advanced encryption. Whatever a user can access, their assigned agent can access, and nothing beyond that.

Why It Matters

Ironclad frames the launch as a shift in what contract lifecycle management (CLM) software, which digitizes and automates contract processes, should deliver. The company argues that previous generations of CLM stopped at storage and automated approvals, leaving most of the value locked inside documents.

The company states that contracts hold data on revenue commitments, vendor spend, renewal terms, risk exposure, and obligations that can cost businesses millions if missed. Without tools to surface that data automatically, teams lose time and money.

"Contracts shouldn't slow the business down; they should help it move faster and smarter," Ironclad said in its announcement. "With Ironclad, contract data becomes contract intelligence that teams can actually use to run the business."

The company added: "Modern CLM shouldn't stop at contract storage and automated approval routing. The real value comes when teams can query contract data, gain insights, and act on it across the business."

Ironclad is hosting a webinar on March 25, 2026, at 10 a.m. PT to walk through the new features in detail.
